Welsh Rarebit
Homestyle Cracked Wheat with Whole Grain Bread 


  • 4 slices Aunt Millie's Homestyle Cracked Wheat with Whole Grain Bread
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 4 oz. porter beer, such as Guiness
  • 1 c. heavy cream
  • 12 oz. grated Cheddar cheese


  1. Toast bread to desired color.
  2. In medium saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Whisk in mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  4. Next, whisk in cream and stir until combined.
  5. Gradually add cheese, whisking constantly, until cheese melts and becomes a smooth sauce.
  6. Pour over toast and serve immediately.
