Sausage and Cheddar Bread Pudding
Ingredients:
- 1 package Aunt Millie’s White Dinner Rolls, torn into ½” pieces
- 1 lb. sweet or spicy pork sausage, casings removed if applicable
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 med. onion, chopped
- 2 ½ c. grated sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ c. chopped fresh parsley
- 6 eggs
- 2 c. milk
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
Yield: 6 servings
Directions:
- In a large saute pan, cook the sausage until browned, about 10 minutes, being sure to break up into small pieces while cooking. Remove sausage from pan and place into a large bowl. Do not clean the pan.
- Add the butter to the same pan and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the onions to the bowl with the sausage.
- Add the bread pieces, cheese and parsley and stir well. Place into a greased 9” x 13” baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, which together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for one hour, or until golden brown.
